Which type of inversion forms aloft within an anticyclone?
Answer: D
Descending air within an anticyclone warms adiabatically, and where it meets the cooler mixed layer beneath it a sharp inversion forms, capping the boundary layer. The trade wind inversion over the subtropical oceans is the large scale example. Radiation, frontal and turbulence inversions all form by other mechanisms at other levels.
