APSP is the Andhra Pradesh Special Police, the state's armed reserve battalions.

  • Civil is selected on the Final Written Examination alone, out of 200. The physical test is pass or fail.
  • APSP is selected on the Final Written (100) plus the Physical Efficiency Test (100). Running and jumping are half your score.

For both, Preliminary marks have no relevance in the final selection. The Board can change vacancies or any part of the process at any time.

Civil candidates must pass the 1,600 metres and one of the other two. APSP candidates must pass all three, and score out of 100 on a gradation table in Annexure I, so beating the standard earns more than just meeting it.

Syllabus

Annexure II of the notification sets one syllabus for both written papers, at Intermediate standard, objective type, 200 questions:

  • English
  • Arithmetic (SSC standard)
  • Test of Reasoning / Mental Ability
  • General Science
  • History of India, Indian culture, Indian National Movement
  • Indian Geography, Polity and Economy
  • Current events of national and international importance

The questions aren't split between topics in the notification. Arithmetic is pitched at SSC level, one step below the rest.

English questions are set in English even in the Telugu and Urdu papers. Choosing a regional medium doesn't get you out of the English section.

The Board doesn't prescribe any textbook and isn't bound by any book. Disputed questions are settled by its Subject Experts Committee.

Post Code 23, SCT PC (APSP)The Final Written Examination (100) plus the Physical Efficiency Test (100)200

In both cases selection is strictly on relative merit among those who passed the Physical Efficiency Test. The Preliminary only screens.

The local candidate rule (Civil only)

Civil selection follows the AP Public Employment (Organization of Local Cadres and Regulation of Direct Recruitment) Order, 1975 (G.O. (P) No. 763 of 15 November 1975). Under G.O. Ms. No. 8 of 8 January 2002, the first 20 per cent of posts go on a combined merit list of locals and non-locals, and the other 80 per cent to locals only.

The rule doesn't apply to APSP, where you compete state-wide.

Ties

Between candidates of the same category on equal marks, the one born earlier goes first.

Salary

You join as a Stipendiary Cadet Trainee, on a stipend, under the Contributory Pension Scheme. The notification doesn't give the stipend or the pay scale; those are set by State Government orders.

Exam Centres

The written tests are held at centres across Andhra Pradesh; the venue is on your hall ticket. For the physical tests, the Board tells qualifiers through its website when to download an Intimation Letter with the venue, date and time. Nothing comes by post.

Bring blue or black ball point pens to the written tests. Bring the Intimation Letter and your original documents, in person, to the physical tests.

Civil vacancies and cut-offs are by district unit (Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam City and Rural, East Godavari, Rajahmundry, West Godavari, Krishna, Vijayawada City, Guntur Urban and Rural, Prakasam, Nellore, Kurnool, Kadapa, Anantapur, Chittoor and Tirupati Urban), which is where the local rule bites.

Result

On 8 August 2025 the Board published, on slprb.ap.gov.in:

  • Selection lists for SCT PC (Civil) (Men and Women) and SCT PC (APSP) (Men).
  • Revised cut-off marks for both, broken down by district unit, category and sub-quota (General, Women, Home Guard, Meritorious Sports Person, Children of Police Personnel, NCC).

The Board publishes preliminary and then final answer keys for each question paper set. For its Assistant Public Prosecutor recruitment it also offered verification and recounting.

Cut Off

The Board publishes selection cut-offs by district unit, category and sub-quota, not as a state figure. In the Civil cut-off table of 8 August 2025, the OC General cut-off for SCT PC (Civil) ran from about 138 to 155 out of 200 across the units, with Srikakulam highest at 155. OC Women ran lower, mostly from the 110s to the low 140s.

That's a record of one cycle, not a forecast. For Civil, the local rule means the same mark can select you in one unit and not in another. APSP is scored out of 200 on the written paper and physical test combined.

Preparation Tips

Know your post code

If you're going for APSP, train as hard as you study. The physical test is worth as much as the written paper, and it's graded, so meeting the standard puts you at the bottom of the table.

Clear the Preliminary and move on

It doesn't count. You need 40 per cent (OC, EWS), 35 (BC) or 30 (SC, ST, ex-servicemen). The syllabus is the same as the Final, so the work isn't wasted.

Answer every question

There's no penalty for a wrong answer, so a blank is worth the same as a wrong guess. Fill every bubble.

Practise English in English

It's set in English even in the Telugu and Urdu papers.

Pick your second event (Civil)

You need the 1,600 metres plus either the 100 metres or the long jump. Train the one that suits you.

Check measurements and eyesight early

Men 167.6 cm with an 86.3 cm chest expanding 5 cm; women 152.5 cm and 40 kg. Eyesight 6/6 in each eye with no colour blindness or squint.

Use the published cut-offs and keys

The unit-wise cut-off tables show where the line actually fell. Practise on the 200-question format in three hours, and check your answers against the Board's final keys rather than any book's.

Sample Papers

No sample papers are available from SLPRB, AP as of now. The Board doesn't publish model papers.

It does post preliminary and final answer keys after each written test, and selection lists and cut-offs, on slprb.ap.gov.in. The syllabus is Annexure II of the notification.
