Exam Pattern
One exam serves all three posts, in three stages. You must clear each stage separately.
| Stage | What | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| I Preliminary | 200 MCQs on OMR, General Studies | 200 | 3 hours |
| II Mains | Written paper: essay 30, precis 30, English-Hindi and Hindi-English translation 25 each, comprehension 40 | 150 | 2 hours |
| III Computer test | Type a 500-word English passage on a computer | 50 | 20 minutes |
Stage I carries no negative marking and no minimum mark. Stage II needs 50 out of 150 and Stage III needs 25 out of 50. In Stage III each wrong or missing word costs 0.1 mark. Stage II and III are taken on the same day with a 20 minute gap. The Stage I paper is bilingual and the English version prevails if the two differ.
Syllabus
Stage I (General Studies) covers general science, history of India, the national movement, Indian polity, economy and culture, agriculture, commerce and trade, population, ecology and urbanisation in the Indian context, world geography and the geography and resources of India, current national and international events, general aptitude, Uttar Pradesh special knowledge (education, culture, agriculture, industry, trade, living and social traditions), graduation-level English and Hindi, and elementary computer knowledge.
Stage II tests essay and precis writing in English, translation both ways between English and Hindi, and English comprehension. Stage III is the typing test.
Eligibility Criteria
Same conditions as Review Officer. You need a bachelor's degree and a computer qualification (a degree or diploma in computer science, NIELIT 'O' Level or CCC), knowledge of data entry and word processing, and 25 wpm English typing.
Age is 21 to 35 on 1 July 2026. Anyone younger than 21 can only apply for Computer Assistant. The age limit goes up by 5 years for reserved Uttar Pradesh categories and by 15 for PwBD. Of the 380 posts, 154 are unreserved, 102 OBC, 79 SC, 38 EWS and 7 ST (the compartment table itself totals 378, so recheck the final count).
Selection Process
Seven times the number of vacancies in each category and post are called from the Stage I merit list for Stages II and III. The final merit list adds Stage II and Stage III marks only (200 in all). Stage I marks are used just to break ties, after age: the older candidate ranks higher. There is no interview.
A candidate selected as Review Officer is not considered for ARO or Computer Assistant, and an ARO selectee is not considered for Computer Assistant. The list stays valid for a year or until the next selection.
Salary
Level 7 of the 7th Pay Commission matrix, ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400.
How to Apply
Apply online only, through exams.nta.nic.in/allhcre or allahabadhighcourt.in. Submit one form even if you want all three posts, and pay one fee.
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General and OBC | ₹1,200 |
| SC, ST and EWS of Uttar Pradesh | ₹1,000 |
Bank charges are extra. The 2026 window has closed.
Exam Centres
Centres are printed on the admit card. NTA ran the 2021 exam in 16 cities of Uttar Pradesh; the 2026 advertisement does not list cities.
Important Dates
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Advertisement 02 of 2026 | 1 June 2026 |
| Online application | 1 to 21 June 2026 |
| Last date for fee | 22 June 2026 |
| Form correction | 24 and 25 June 2026 |
| Admit card, answer key, result | Not yet announced |
Dates of the exam itself will come by public notice on the NTA page and the court site.
Admit Card
Admit cards are downloaded from the NTA page once the court announces the exam date. None had been posted when this was checked on 16 October 2026. Each stage has its own admit card, and the Stage II and III card is issued only to those shortlisted from Stage I.
Result
No result has been declared for the 2026 exam as of 16 October 2026. Provisional answer keys, with the scanned OMR sheet, go up for two to three days and each challenge costs ₹500, refunded if accepted. Results appear only on the NTA page. Final merit lists are prepared separately for each of the three posts.
Cut Off
No cut-off has been published for 2026. For an earlier cycle, the 2021 advertisement and the result notices on the court site are the place to look.
Preparation Tips
Treat the paper as a graduation-level English and Hindi test with a general studies filter in front of it. Past 2021 questions are a fair guide to the Stage I level. Write one essay and one precis a week, and practise typing from printed text, since the test copies a passage rather than free typing.
