The latest advertisement is Recruitment of 55 Management Trainees, Ref. No. AIC/Rect/MT-2024-25 dated 29.01.2025. Registration ran 30 January to 20 February 2025 and the online exam was on 15 April 2025.
| Discipline | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| Generalist | 30 |
| Information Technology | 20 |
| Actuarial | 5 |
| Total | 55 |
It's a traineeship first. You join as a Management Trainee for one year on a consolidated ₹60,000 a month. Absorption as Administrative Officer (Scale I) isn't automatic; it depends on your performance, an interview or interaction, and whatever else the Company decides.
The three disciplines sit very different papers: a Generalist is tested only on aptitude, while an IT candidate's paper is two-thirds their own subject. And the job means field work in the districts, with travel in remote rural areas.
AIC publishes its cut-offs, corrigenda and a specialist syllabus on its Career section.

Selection Process
| Stage | Marks | Share | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online exam (CBT) | 150 | 75 per cent | 60% General, OBC, EWS; 55% SC, ST, PwBD (relaxable) |
| Interview | 50 | 25 per cent | 25 (relaxable) |

Three times the vacancies are called to interview, plus everyone tied at the last score. Interview travel is reimbursed at AC III Tier rail fare (up to Mail or Superfast) or bus fare by the shortest route.
The final list ranks CBT plus interview. Ties go to the candidate with an additional post-graduate qualification, then to the older candidate. A waiting list valid for one year covers declined offers and later vacancies; AIC issued seven of them in this cycle.
SC, ST, OBC non-creamy and PwBD candidates can opt for free online pre-exam training, starting about 10 days before the exam.
Taking part gives no right to selection, and ineligibility found at any stage cancels candidature.
Salary
| Stage | Pay |
|---|---|
| Management Trainee, one year | ₹60,000 a month, consolidated |
| Administrative Officer (Scale I), on absorption | Basic ₹50,925 in ₹50925-2500(14)-85925-2710(4)-96765, gross about ₹90,000 depending on posting |
The trainee figure is higher than the officer's basic because it's an all-in sum.
Training year
You can be let go immediately for unsatisfactory work. If you resign or are terminated within the year, you owe the average training cost per candidate actually paid to third parties, which isn't a stated figure.
After absorption
Probation is one year (extendable by six months), on a par with a direct recruit officer, and the Company can end your service without notice or reason. You also sign a bond for Two (02) years from absorption, probation included:
| Leaving | Liquidated damages |
|---|---|
| Within one year of absorption | ₹4,00,000 |
| In the second year | ₹2,00,000 |
It's a stamped bond with two sureties (not blood relatives); notice period counts as service. A lien or bond with your current employer doesn't bind AIC, and AIC's bond can't be transferred elsewhere.
Posting can be anywhere in India.
How to Apply
Online only, via Career section, from 08.00 hrs on 30 January 2025 to 20.00 hrs on 20 February 2025. It closes at 8 pm, not midnight.
| Category | Fee, non-refundable |
|---|---|
| SC, ST and PwBD | ₹200 (intimation charges) |
| All others | ₹1,000 |
Bank charges are yours. The form fixes your discipline, centre, category and training option. The advertisement gave the exam as "March or April 2025 (Tentative)"; the date came by separate notice. Nothing is verified until the interview, where you bring originals.

Result
AIC publishes the exam result, the cut-off notice, the interview shortlist, a link to view your own score, and the waiting lists, all on its Career section. In this cycle all seven waiting lists (December 2025 to September 2026) were for the Generalist discipline.
Cut Off
From AIC's cut-off notice (Ref. AIC/Rect/MT-2024-25/Cut-off, 09 July 2025), marks out of 150 for the 15 April 2025 exam:
| Discipline | SC | ST | OBC | EWS | General | PWD (VI) | PWD (HH) | PWD (OC) | PWD (ID/MD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Generalist | 108.50 | 99.75 | 112.00 | 115.00 | 115.50 | 105.75 | 69.00 | 93.75 | 101.75 |
| Actuarial | No vacancy | No vacancy | 92.50 | No vacancy | 94.13 | No candidate qualified | |||
| Information Technology | 68.50 | 74.25 | 75.75 | No vacancy | 81.25 | No candidate qualified | |||
As percentages, the general cut-offs were 77 (Generalist), 63 (Actuarial) and 54 (IT): 34 marks apart on the same paper. The advertised 60% floor is 90 of 150, so the Company relaxed it under Point 7(A) in view of non-availability of sufficient number of candidates, and said so on the notice.
Three times 55 vacancies means roughly 165 at interview, about fifteen for Actuarial. Figures are after negative marking and include the descriptive.
Preparation Tips
- Pick your discipline with the cut-offs in mind. You get one application.
- Generalists: it's all aptitude. The 35-mark awareness section is the only employer-specific part, so learn PMFBY, the weather-based crop scheme and farm policy.
- IT: 100 marks are your subject. Work through the four areas in the indicative syllabus, and have your certification before you apply.
- Actuarial: the paper is statistics and data interpretation. If you enter on two papers, plan to clear a third in the training year.
- Use the right penalty in mocks: 0.375 on Actuarial professional questions, not a flat 0.25.
- Don't skip the descriptive. Its 10 marks count.
- Prepare for the interview as a quarter of the result, including why you'd do district field work.
Sample Papers
No sample papers or previous year papers are available for AIC Management Trainee as of now. AIC doesn't release them.
Its Career section carries the Information Handout and the specialist syllabus before each exam. The last advertisement came out at the end of January, with the exam in April.
