Which notice this post belongs to
The post was last advertised under Advertisement No. 01/DR/2023. The current open-market notice, Advertisement No. 01/DR/2025, published in January 2025, recruits Executive in Civil, Electrical, and Signal and Telecommunication only, and carries no Operations and Business Development post. Watch DFCCIL's Open Market Recruitment pages for a fresh notice. Everything here comes from the 2023 advertisement.
Two things set this post apart from the rest of that notice
It is the only one of the nine posts with a Computer Based Aptitude Test; the rest are selected on the two CBTs alone. The CBAT qualifies at a T-Score of 42 in each battery with no relaxation for any category, is held in Delhi and NCR only, and is worth 30 per cent of the final merit against 70 for the 2nd Stage CBT.
And its second paper is not split like the others. Every other Executive post sits 24 general plus 96 technical questions; Annexure-IV gives post code 13 a single undivided list of 120 questions: General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Science, History of Indian Railways and DFCCIL, Economics and Marketing, and Customer Relations. Those last two are unusual for a railway operating post. A dedicated freight corridor has to win freight traffic, not merely move it, and the syllabus says so.
Negative marking in both CBTs is one fourth of the marks allotted, not the one third the RRB examinations use.

DFCCIL Operations BD Details
Exam Pattern
| Item | 1st Stage CBT | 2nd Stage CBT |
|---|---|---|
| Questions | 100, one mark each | 120, one mark each |
| Duration | 90 minutes, 120 for a PwBD candidate with a scribe | 120 minutes, 160 for a PwBD candidate with a scribe |
| Nature | Screening only | Decides the panel |
| Negative marking | One fourth of the marks allotted deducted for each wrong answer | |
| Language | English and Hindi only. Where the two versions differ, the English version prevails | |
The deduction is one fourth, not one third, the RRB figure most railway candidates carry in their heads. There is no sectional cut-off. And the 1st Stage score, normalised, only shortlists for the 2nd Stage CBT; the 2nd Stage marks form the panel.
1st Stage CBT, the same 100 questions for every post
| Topic | Questions |
|---|---|
| Mathematics / Numerical Ability | 30 |
| Logical Reasoning / General Intelligence | 30 |
| General Awareness | 15 |
| General Science | 15 |
| Knowledge about Railways / DFCCIL | 10 |
| Total | 100 |
The distribution is indicative, with some variation possible in the actual paper.
2nd Stage CBT, post code 13
120 questions in 120 minutes, 160 with a scribe, which is 60 seconds a question against 54 seconds in the first paper. Annexure-IV gives this post no Part-I and Part-II split, unlike every other Executive post code. The topics are listed under Syllabus.
The Computer Based Aptitude Test
| Item | What the advertisement says |
|---|---|
| Qualifying mark | A minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries |
| Relaxation | None, for any community or category including SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS and ex-servicemen. No relaxation in the minimum T-Score is permissible |
| Negative marking | None in the CBAT |
| Weightage in the final merit | The merit list is drawn only from among candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70 per cent for the 2nd Stage CBT and 30 per cent for the CBAT |
| PwBD candidates | Exempted. Their merit is decided on the 2nd Stage CBT alone |
| Where it is held | Delhi and NCR only |
The only source the advertisement names for it is the RDSO website, under Directorates and Psycho Technical. No syllabus is published.
The minimum qualifying marks
| Category | Minimum qualifying marks |
|---|---|
| UR and EWS | 40 per cent |
| SC and OBC-NCL | 30 per cent |
| ST | 25 per cent |
Note the grouping: SC sits with OBC-NCL at 30 per cent and ST alone at 25, with a 2 per cent relaxation for PwBD candidates in case of shortage. Obtaining the minimum confers no right to be shortlisted, which depends on merit position and the number required. Percentile-based normalisation applies where a CBT runs in more than one shift.
Syllabus
1st Stage CBT, the same 100 questions for every post
| Topic | Questions |
|---|---|
| Mathematics / Numerical Ability | 30 |
| Logical Reasoning / General Intelligence | 30 |
| General Awareness | 15 |
| General Science | 15 |
| Knowledge about Railways / DFCCIL | 10 |
| Total | 100 |
The last row is the one to stop on. Ten of the hundred marks are Knowledge about Railways and DFCCIL, a topic no general competitive-exam material covers. It is the cheapest ten marks in the paper for a candidate who reads the corporation's own pages and the most expensive for one who does not.
2nd Stage CBT, Annexure-IV, post code 13
A single undivided list for all 120 questions, which is what distinguishes this post from every other Executive discipline in the notice:
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| General Knowledge | Current affairs and general awareness |
| Logical Reasoning | The reasoning of the first paper, at length |
| Numerical Ability | The arithmetic of the first paper, at length |
| General Science | As in the first paper |
| History of Indian Railways and DFCCIL | Ten marks of the first paper; here a named area of a 120-question paper |
| Economics and Marketing | The commercial half of the discipline |
| Customer Relations | The other commercial half |
A dedicated freight corridor is a business as well as a railway. It has to attract freight away from road and from the existing network, price it and keep the customers, which is why an operating post is examined on Economics and Marketing and Customer Relations. And why the medical standard is A-2, the strictest in the notice: the operating side is also the safety side.
For the railway history area, the corporation's own material is the source. DFCCIL is a Schedule A PSU under the Ministry of Railways, describing itself as one of the biggest projects in the infrastructure sector, whose first phase is the Eastern DFC (Ludhiana to Delhi to Kolkata) and the Western DFC (Mumbai to Delhi), with field units at Ambala, Meerut, Tundla, Prayagraj, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Ajmer, Jaipur and Noida.
The aptitude test has no syllabus
The CBAT is a psychometric battery. The advertisement publishes no topic list and directs candidates to the RDSO website, under Directorates and Psycho Technical. What it does state is decisive: a minimum T-Score of 42 in each battery, the same for every category with no relaxation, no negative marking, and questions only in English and Hindi.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational qualification
Graduation with not less than 60 per cent marks from a recognised University or Institute. No stream is specified, which made this the most broadly open post in the 2023 notice: the other Executive disciplines want an engineering diploma, a commerce degree or an equivalent professional qualification.
Age, as on 1 July 2023
18 to 30 years, the same band as every other Executive and Junior Executive post in that notice.
| Category | Relaxation in the upper age limit |
|---|---|
| SC and ST | 5 years |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 3 years |
| PwBD, unreserved | 10 years |
| PwBD, OBC-NCL | 13 years |
| PwBD, SC and ST | 15 years |
| Ex-servicemen | The extent of defence service plus three years, provided more than six months service after attestation |
| Regular employees of DFCCIL | 8 years |
Three rules qualify that table. The upper age must not exceed 56 years including all possible relaxations. A PwBD candidate gets the relaxation whether or not the post is reserved for them, provided the post is identified as suitable for that disability. And the date of birth in the application must match the Matriculation or Secondary (10th) certificate, which is the only document accepted for age.
Medical standard A-2
This is the only A-2 post in the 2023 advertisement; the other five Executive disciplines are A-3 or C-1 and all three Junior Executive disciplines are A-3. A-2 is the standard applied to safety-critical operating posts on the railways, and it is why this selection carries a psychometric aptitude test that the others do not.
Suitability for persons with benchmark disabilities
The post is identified as suitable for disability in "OA" only, that is one arm, and it carries 9 PwBD and 34 ex-servicemen horizontal vacancies out of 235. That is the narrowest identification of any Executive post in the notice; Executive (Finance) in the same advertisement is identified across blindness and low vision, deafness and hard of hearing, a long locomotor list, autism spectrum, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities.
One compensation applies here and nowhere else: PwBD candidates are exempted from the CBAT, and their merit is decided on the 2nd Stage CBT alone.
Reservation on the 235 posts
| UR | SC | ST | OBC-NCL | EWS | PwBD | Ex-servicemen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 97 | 35 | 17 | 63 | 23 | 9 | 34 |
PwBD and ex-servicemen vacancies are horizontal, included in the totals. Any candidate may be considered against UR vacancies subject to meeting the UR parameters, but a vacancy earmarked for a community is filled only by a candidate of that community. An OBC-NCL certificate produced at Document Verification must not be older than one year, failing which the candidate is considered against UR vacancies only.
DFCCIL does not scrutinise applications for eligibility at the application stage or at the CBT, so candidature is accepted only provisionally. A claim not substantiated at Document Verification cancels it, and false information or deliberate suppression makes a candidate liable to have their services terminated even after appointment.
Selection Process
- 1st Stage CBT, 100 general questions in 90 minutes. Screening only.
- 2nd Stage CBT, 120 questions in 120 minutes. 70 per cent of the final merit.
- Computer Based Aptitude Test, qualifying at a T-Score of 42 in each battery. 30 per cent of the final merit.
- Document Verification and Medical Test, for candidates equal to the number of community-wise vacancies.
The advertisement puts the formula plainly: the final merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70 per cent weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd stage CBT and 30 per cent weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT. So a candidate can top the written papers and be out on one weak battery, and a candidate who scrapes through the batteries still carries 30 per cent of their position from a test they barely passed.
How many go through
| Stage | Number called |
|---|---|
| 2nd Stage CBT | 20 times the community-wise vacancies, on 1st Stage merit |
| Document Verification, medical and panel | Equal to the community-wise vacancies, on merit |
DFCCIL reserves the right to increase or decrease the number called. All candidates of a community on the same cut-off marks are called, so a shortlist can exceed its stated multiple. A candidate availing the benefit of reservation continues to be considered only against that community for all subsequent stages.
Document Verification, and the absence of a safety net
- The maximum panel is equal to the advertised vacancies, community-wise, and no stand-by list or panel is maintained.
- On a shortfall DFCCIL may empanel candidates down the merit list, but that is entirely an administrative prerogative and no claim by a candidate is entertained.
- If a claim in the application is not substantiated by certificates, the candidature is cancelled. False information or deliberate suppression disqualifies, and services are liable to be terminated even after appointment.
- Where identity is in doubt, the documents cannot be produced, or information mismatches, the candidate is not allowed to appear for DV at all, and no additional time is given to produce originals later.
Signatures must be identical at every stage. A signature in a different style at the CBT, the CBAT or Document Verification may lead to rejection.
Salary
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Level | E0, the entry executive grade |
| IDA pay scale | ₹30,000 to 1,20,000 |
| Medical standard | A-2 |
| Vacancies | 235 |
DFCCIL is a PSU on the Industrial Dearness Allowance pattern, so a post carries a scale with a floor and a ceiling rather than a cell in the 7th CPC matrix. ₹30,000 is where an Executive enters and ₹1,20,000 is where the E0 scale ends. Every Executive post in the notice shares that scale; what differs is the qualification, the medical standard and the selection.
Pay consists of Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance on the IDA pattern, House Rent Allowance, and perks and allowances under the Cafeteria Approach, with medical facility, gratuity and leave encashment as per company rules. Pay protection is granted to candidates serving in PSUs or government organisations under DPE guidelines, but not to ex-servicemen.
Two conditions to weigh before applying
Posting may be anywhere in India on DFCCIL's units, stations, projects, establishments or offices, and all posts are transferable at the sole discretion of the Management. And a service bond is executed at joining, with two years of probation during which an employee may be discharged without assigning any reason.
The advertisement also records that DFCCIL encourages women candidates to apply, and that canvassing in any form, or influencing officials connected with the recruitment, results in immediate disqualification.
How to Apply
Applications are made online on the DFCCIL website only, with no documents sent by post, and the form must be filled in English.
- Registration is a sign-up with the post applied for, name, a valid mobile number and a valid email ID, verified by OTP.
- Multiple registrations for the same post make the candidature liable to be cancelled or rejected without any notice.
- A reserved-category candidate should check whether a vacancy exists under their category; if it does not, they are considered as Unreserved.
- Registration is complete only when the fee is paid online on or before the last date.
- A correction window opens after the closing date. Once it closes nothing can be changed, and the post applied for, post code, email ID and mobile number are outside it in any case.
The fee
| Post and category | Fee |
|---|---|
| Executive and Junior Executive, UR, OBC-NCL and EWS | ₹1,000 |
| SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and transgender candidates | Exempted, whether or not the post is reserved for them |
An exempted candidate must still name the category and upload the certificate. Payment is online only. The fee is non-refundable, an unpaid application from a non-exempted candidate is rejected as incomplete, and a failed transaction is returned automatically within 15 to 20 working days.
What to have ready for Document Verification
- Matriculation or Secondary (10th) certificate and marksheet, the only document accepted for date of birth.
- The degree certificate and all marksheets, showing not less than 60 per cent.
- Original caste or category certificates. An OBC-NCL certificate must not be older than one year, with a non-creamy-layer declaration before joining.
- Undertakings and certificates for ex-servicemen or PwBD status, where claimed.
Participating Institutes
Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited is a Schedule A Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, set up to build high capacity and high speed rail freight corridors along the golden quadrilateral and its diagonals. Its first phase is the Eastern DFC, Ludhiana through Delhi to Kolkata, and the Western DFC, Mumbai to Delhi.
Its registered and corporate office is in New Delhi, with the corporate office moving to Noida, and it has field units at Ambala, Meerut, Tundla (Agra), Prayagraj East and West, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar, Kolkata, Mumbai North and South, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Ajmer, Jaipur and Noida.
DFCCIL recruits on its own account, not through the Railway Recruitment Boards, and is a PSU on the IDA pay pattern rather than a department on the 7th CPC matrix. The CBAT is administered under the guidance of RDSO.
The nine posts in Advertisement No. 01/DR/2023
| Post | Level and IDA scale | Medical | Qualification | Vacancies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Executive (Civil) | E0, ₹30,000 to 1,20,000 | A-3 | Diploma in the discipline | 50 |
| Executive (Electrical) | E0 | A-3 | Diploma in the discipline | 30 |
| Executive (Operations and Business Development) | E0 | A-2 | Graduation with not less than 60 per cent | 235 |
| Executive (Finance) | E0 | C-1 | Three year Bachelor's degree in Commerce with not less than 60 per cent | 14 |
| Executive (Human Resource) | E0 | C-1 | 19 | |
| Executive (Information Technology) | E0 | C-1 | 6 | |
| Junior Executive (Electrical) | N-5, ₹25,000 to 68,000 | A-3 | Matriculation with not less than 60 per cent plus a two year Act Apprenticeship or ITI in a listed trade | 24 |
| Junior Executive (Signal and Telecommunication) | N-5 | A-3 | As above, in a listed trade | 148 |
| Junior Executive (Mechanical) | N-5 | A-3 | As above, in Fitter, or a one year ITI in Welder or Plumber with a one year Act Apprenticeship | 9 |
235 of the vacancies were for this one discipline, more than all five other Executive disciplines put together, and it was the only post open to a graduate of any stream. Vacancies are provisional and may increase, decrease or become nil depending on administrative requirements.
Exam Centres
| Stage | Format | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Stage CBT | 100 questions in 90 minutes, 120 with a scribe | At an allotted centre |
| 2nd Stage CBT | 120 questions in 120 minutes, 160 with a scribe | At an allotted centre |
| Computer Based Aptitude Test | Psychometric batteries, English and Hindi only, no negative marking | Delhi and NCR only |
| Document Verification and Medical Test | At a DFCCIL venue |
The CBAT being held in Delhi and NCR only is a real planning point: a candidate from anywhere in the country who reaches that stage travels there. The date, time and venue for all stages are fixed by DFCCIL, and a request for postponement, or for a change of venue, date or shift, is not entertained under any circumstances.
What to carry, and what not to
Bring the printed e-admit card, a valid photo ID and one coloured passport size photograph.
An unfair practice includes possessing during the CBT a calculator, a mobile phone switched on or switched off, a Bluetooth device, headphone, earplug, laptop, iPad, digital diary, digital watch, book or notes, metallic wear, bangles, belt, bracelets or spy cameras, or any textual material. So does taking rough sheets out of the hall, leaving the venue uninformed, obstructing the examination, submitting fabricated documents, or a forged admit card.
Important Dates
| Step | Date in Advertisement No. 01/DR/2023 |
|---|---|
| Opening date for online registration | 20 May 2023, 16:00 hrs |
| Closing date for registration and online fee | 19 June 2023, 23:45 hrs |
| Application form correction window | 26 June 2023, 16:00 hrs to 30 June 2023, 23:45 hrs |
| Tentative 1st Stage CBT | August 2023 |
| Tentative 2nd Stage CBT | December 2023 |
| Tentative Computer Based Aptitude Test | March 2024, for this post only |
Age was reckoned as on 1 July 2023, 18 to 30 years, with the date of birth taken from the Matriculation certificate and nothing else.
Seven months from the first paper to the aptitude test, and the schedule is tentative: in 01/DR/2025 every stage ran about three months behind.
A precedent to know about
In Advertisement No. 04/2021, the previous cycle to carry this discipline, the CBAT conducted on 5 April 2022 was cancelled and DFCCIL published a notice for its re-conduct with fresh admit card and facilitation centre notices. It is a psychometric test administered under RDSO guidance, and it has been re-run before.
The dates that trip people
Registration is complete only when the fee is paid. The correction window is the last chance, and even in it the post, post code, email and mobile number cannot be changed. Score card links close after a stated window; in this cycle the CBAT score card display had to be extended by a separate notice. Dates are intimated through the DFCCIL website and nowhere else.
Admit Card
DFCCIL publishes each step as a notice under Open Market Recruitment at dfccil.com, with completed cycles moved to Archived Notices. E-admit cards and score cards are downloaded from a portal with the candidate's own credentials, and each link is live only for a stated window, so download and save every one.
For this post there are three sets of call letters, not two: one for each CBT and one for the Computer Based Aptitude Test, which DFCCIL announced in the 2023 cycle through a dedicated notice for conduct of CBAT followed by an e-admit card link.
Carry the printed e-admit card, a valid photo ID and a coloured passport size photograph. Sign the same way every time: the advertisement requires signatures to be identical at all stages and warns that a different style at the CBT, the CBAT or DV may lead to rejection. And plan for a trip to Delhi, because the CBAT is held in Delhi and NCR only.
Result
Results come as a score card per stage, on a login-protected portal at dfccil.com under Open Market Recruitment. In the 2023 cycle DFCCIL published a score card after the 1st Stage CBT, another after the 2nd Stage CBT, and a separate one after the CBAT whose display window was later extended by its own notice. Those notices are now under Archived Notices.
A candidate therefore learns their own score and position. No category-wise cut-off table was published alongside them.
Before a result, provisional answer keys go up after each CBT, with an online objection window at ₹100 per question, refunded if the objection is correct. Objections by post or email are not entertained, and there is no re-evaluation or re-checking. A question found ambiguous or wrong is omitted and the marks proportionally equated to the full paper: if one question of a hundred is wrong, marking of 99 is scaled up to 100.
Ties are broken by date of birth, the older candidate placed higher, and then by alphabetical order of the name.
Cut Off
DFCCIL publishes no category-wise cut-off table for this recruitment. It published score cards for both CBTs and a separate score card after the CBAT, on a login-protected portal, so a candidate learns their own score and position rather than the threshold. Any figure circulating as a DFCCIL Operations and Business Development cut-off is not one the corporation has released.
What is published is the structure. Three thresholds apply, and only the first bends by category.
| Threshold | Value |
|---|---|
| Minimum qualifying marks in a CBT | UR and EWS 40 per cent, SC and OBC-NCL 30 per cent, ST 25 per cent, with 2 per cent relaxation for PwBD candidates in case of shortage |
| CBAT | A T-Score of 42 in each test battery, applicable to all candidates irrespective of community or category, with no relaxation permissible |
| Effective cut-off | The score of the last candidate inside the community-wise vacancy count, since DV is called at parity with vacancies |
Every other threshold in this recruitment bends by category. The T-Score of 42 does not, which is why a strong written score alone is not enough for this post.
The ratios, against 235 vacancies
| Stage | Ratio | Against 235 vacancies |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Stage CBT to 2nd Stage CBT | 20 times the community-wise vacancies | on the order of 4,700 candidates |
| 2nd Stage CBT to Document Verification and panel | Equal to the vacancies, from among those qualifying the CBAT | 235 |
The final position is 70 per cent the 2nd Stage CBT and 30 per cent the CBAT, with the 1st Stage contributing nothing. For a PwBD candidate, exempted from the CBAT, it is the 2nd Stage CBT alone. Marks are normalised on a percentile basis where a paper runs in more than one shift, and ties go to the older candidate, then to alphabetical order of the name.
Preparation Tips
You are preparing for three tests, and they reward different things
| Test | What it asks | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Stage CBT | General aptitude and awareness | 0 per cent, but it decides who continues |
| 2nd Stage CBT | The same, plus railway history, economics and marketing, and customer relations | 70 per cent |
| CBAT | A psychometric battery. No syllabus, no negative marking, and a hard floor | 30 per cent |
Take the T-Score of 42 seriously, because nothing bends it
You must clear each battery. A single weak one ends the candidature whatever the written score, and 30 per cent of the final position comes from it. The only source named is the RDSO website, under Directorates and Psycho Technical, plus the CBAT mock test link DFCCIL publishes before the paper.
The three headings that make the second paper different
History of Indian Railways and DFCCIL, Economics and Marketing and Customer Relations are named areas of the 120-question paper. No general competitive-exam material covers the first, and the other two are business subjects in a railway examination. Read the corporation's own material for the railway section; it also pays for the ten marks under Knowledge about Railways and DFCCIL in the first paper, so the reading is used twice.
Two different marking habits
Four wrong answers cancel one right one in the written papers, milder than the RRB figure. In the CBAT there is no negative marking, so leave nothing blank there.
Check the medical standard, and expect a crowd
This is an A-2 post, the strictest in its notice, because Operations is the safety side of a railway. And graduation in any stream at 60 per cent was the qualification, on 235 vacancies, more than all the other Executive disciplines combined, so the field was very large.
Practical things that cost candidatures
- Multiple registrations for the same post make the candidature liable for cancellation without notice.
- Your date of birth must match the Matriculation certificate.
- An OBC-NCL certificate at DV must not be older than one year.
- Sign the same way every time, at the CBT, the CBAT and DV alike.
- A mobile phone in the hall, switched on or switched off, is an unfair practice.
- Plan for a trip to Delhi: the CBAT is held in Delhi and NCR only.
Sample Papers
No previous year papers or sample papers are available for this post as of now. DFCCIL does not publish them for any of its recruitments.
Before each stage it puts up a mock test link, with a separate one for the CBAT, under Open Market Recruitment at dfccil.com. Completed cycles move to Archived Notices.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is DFCCIL Operations and Business Development, and is it open now?
Executive (Operations and Business Development), the graduate-entry operating discipline of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited, at level E0 on the IDA scale of ₹30,000 to 1,20,000, last advertised under Advertisement No. 01/DR/2023 for 235 vacancies. It is not in the current notice: 01/DR/2025 recruits Executive in Civil, Electrical, and Signal and Telecommunication only.
What qualification and age does it need?
Graduation with not less than 60 per cent from a recognised University or Institute, no stream specified, and 18 to 30 years as on 1 July 2023. SC and ST get 5 years relaxation, OBC-NCL 3, PwBD candidates 10, 13 or 15 by community, with a ceiling of 56 years including all relaxations.
What are the stages, and how is the merit calculated?
1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT, Computer Based Aptitude Test, then Document Verification and Medical Test. The merit is 70 per cent the 2nd Stage CBT and 30 per cent the CBAT, drawn only from candidates who qualify the CBAT. The 1st Stage contributes nothing.
What is the qualifying mark in the CBAT?
A minimum T-Score of 42 in each of the test batteries, applicable to all candidates irrespective of community or category, with no relaxation permissible. It is held in Delhi and NCR only, and there is no negative marking in it.
Are PwBD candidates exempted from the CBAT?
Yes, and their merit is decided on the 2nd Stage CBT alone. Note though that the post is identified as suitable for OA only, the narrowest identification of any Executive post in that notice.
What is in the written papers?
1st Stage: 100 questions in 90 minutes, Mathematics and Numerical Ability 30, Logical Reasoning and General Intelligence 30, General Awareness 15, General Science 15, Knowledge about Railways and DFCCIL 10. 2nd Stage: 120 questions in 120 minutes, a single undivided list of General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Science, History of Indian Railways and DFCCIL, Economics and Marketing, and Customer Relations.
Is there negative marking, and what are the qualifying marks?
One fourth of the marks allotted per wrong answer in both CBTs, none in the CBAT. Minimum qualifying marks are UR and EWS 40 per cent, SC and OBC-NCL 30, ST 25, with 2 per cent relaxation for PwBD candidates in case of shortage.
What is the medical standard?
A-2, the strictest in that advertisement, because Operations is the safety side of a railway. The other Executive disciplines are A-3 or C-1.
How many go through, and is there a waiting list?
20 times the community-wise vacancies to the 2nd Stage CBT, and equal to the vacancies to Document Verification and the panel. No stand-by list or panel is maintained; on a shortfall DFCCIL may go down the merit list, but that is entirely an administrative prerogative.
