Bank of Baroda LBO Exam Pattern, Eligibility
141 topics across 5 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
A Local Bank Officer (LBO) is a Junior Management Grade, Scale I officer who is posted in the state he or she applied for. The bank recruits LBOs on its own account, not through the IBPS common process, and asks for a year of officer-level banking experience. It is a lateral entry, not a fresher exam.
The current round is advertisement BOB/HRM/REC/ADVT/2026/16 of 18 August 2026 for 2,482 posts: 1,300 new vacancies and 1,182 carried over from earlier LBO rounds. IBPS was set to conduct the online test on 3 October 2026. The last round (2025) had 2,500 posts and ended with a final result on 27 March 2026.

Exam Pattern
| Test | Questions | Marks | Time | Medium |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| English Language | 30 | 30 | 30 min | English |
| Banking Knowledge | 30 | 30 | 30 min | English and Hindi |
| General / Economic Awareness | 30 | 30 | 30 min | English and Hindi |
| Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude | 30 | 30 | 30 min | English and Hindi |
| Total | 120 | 120 | 120 min |
Each section is timed separately. A wrong answer costs a quarter of the marks for that question; blanks cost nothing. English is qualifying only and its marks are left out of the merit list. The sectional minimum is decided by the bank, which may also waive it. For the 2025 round the minimum was 40% for general and EWS and 35% for the rest. IBPS is conducting the 2026 test.
Eligibility Criteria
| Condition | Requirement (cut-off 1 August 2026) |
|---|---|
| Age | 21 to 30 years. Upper limit +5 for SC/ST, +3 for OBC (non-creamy layer), +10 for PwBD general and EWS (13 OBC, 15 SC/ST), +5 for ex-servicemen general and EWS (8 OBC, 10 SC/ST) |
| Qualification | Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university or institution |
| Experience | At least 1 year after qualifying, as an officer in a scheduled commercial bank listed in the Second Schedule of the RBI Act. Clerical-cadre service does not count, and a stint of under six months in an organisation is ignored unless it is your current job |
| Language | Read, write, speak and understand the local language of the state you apply for |
| Preferred, not mandatory | IC 38 (Insurance Institute of India), or NISM Series V-A, XXI-A or XIII certification |
Serving Bank of Baroda officers and contract staff cannot apply. Neither can people who left an officer post at the bank, or finished a contract with it, in the last three years. Your experience certificate has to describe work close to a Scale I officer's job at the bank, or the application can be rejected at any stage.
Compared with the 2025 round, the experience rule is tighter: last year regional rural bank service counted and CA, cost accountant, engineering and medical degrees were also accepted. Neither applies this time.
Selection Process
The advertisement describes it as an online test, then GD or personal interview, with a psychometric test possible and the bank free to change the mix. Candidates are shortlisted on the number of vacancies, the cut-off and total marks. A tie goes to the older candidate.
- Online test, with a minimum in each section and a minimum total.
- Local language proficiency test for those shortlisted. Failing it ends the process before the interview. It is waived if your Class 10 or 12 certificate shows you studied that language.
- Group discussion and/or personal interview. The minimum is 60% for general and 55% for reserved categories.
SC, ST, ex-servicemen, minority and PwD candidates get online pre-examination training. The final score combines the online test and the GD or interview scores.
Salary
JMG/S-I scale: ₹48,480-2000/7-62,480-2340/2-67,160-2680/7-85,920. A candidate with a year or more as an officer in a scheduled commercial bank gets one advance increment. Allowances come on top as per the industry bipartite settlement and the bank's rules.
The bank's terms: 12 months of probation, and a service bond of three years. Leave early and you pay three months' gross salary, capped at ₹2 lakh. For the first 12 years, or until promotion to SMGS-IV, you are posted inside the state you applied for.
