TS ICET Exam Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility

152 topics across 5 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.

ICET, the Integrated Common Entrance Test, is Telangana's entrance test for MBA and MCA. It's a computer-based test run for the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) by a state university chosen each year.

Since the state changed its abbreviation from TS to TG, it's officially TG ICET, and the site is now icet.tgche.ac.in. Same exam.

The rank admits to MBA and MCA colleges under ten Telangana universities, including Osmania, Kakatiya, JNTU Hyderabad and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University.

  • 200 one-mark questions in 150 minutes: Analytical Ability 75, Mathematical Ability 75, Communication Ability 50.
  • Qualifying mark 25% (50 of 200), and none for SC and ST candidates.
  • Fee ₹750 (₹550 for SC, ST and differently-abled), with late fees climbing to ₹10,000 in the last two days.

TG ICET 2026 is over. Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda ran it in three sessions on 13 and 14 May 2026, with results on 19 June 2026. The 2027 notification isn't out yet; the 2026 one came on 6 February.

Medium

Sections A and B: English with Telugu or English with Urdu. Section C: English only.

Sessions and normalisation

The test runs in several sessions with different papers, and you sit one. Marks are normalised using each session's mean plus standard deviation and the average of its top 0.1%, against the same figures for all sessions. Easy-session marks drop slightly, hard-session marks rise slightly. The normalisation document has the formula.

A normalised mark below zero counts as zero for candidates with no qualifying cut-off, but the actual negative value is used to break ties.

Syllabus

The convener's syllabus gives a question count for every sub-topic.

Section A: Analytical Ability, 75 questions

Data Sufficiency, 20 questions. A question and two statements, I and II, with four fixed options: (1) I alone suffices, (2) II alone suffices, (3) both together suffice but neither alone does, (4) both together do not suffice and more data is needed. Questions 1 to 15 are mathematical; 16 to 20 may be verbal.

Problem Solving, 55 questions:

  • Series, 25. Number and letter analogies (a : b :: c : d), odd one out and missing numbers, each with at least seven terms.
  • Data Analysis, 10. Tables, bar and pie charts, Venn diagrams or a passage.
  • Coding and Decoding, 10. Letter code patterns, and coding or decoding words from given codes.
  • Date, Time and Arrangement, 10. Calendars, clocks, blood relations, schedules, seating, and symbol interpretation.

Section B: Mathematical Ability, 75 questions

  • Arithmetical Ability, 35. Indices, ratio and proportion, surds, divisibility, LCM and GCD, rational numbers, ordering, percentages, profit and loss, partnership, pipes and cisterns, time and distance, time and work, areas, volumes, mensuration and modular arithmetic.
  • Algebraic and Geometric Ability, 30. Sets, polynomials, the remainder theorem, linear equations in two variables, progressions, trigonometric ratios of 0, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 180 degrees, identities, heights and distances, lines, triangles, quadrilaterals and circles, and coordinate geometry (distance, section formula, slope, y = mx, y = mx + c and y − y1 = m(x − x1)).
  • Statistical Ability, 10. Mean, median, mode and simple probability.

The level is class 10 maths, tested for speed.

Section C: Communication Ability, 50 questions

Everyday vocabulary, functional grammar, comprehension and inference, and basic computer and business terminology, including letters, reports, memoranda, agenda and minutes. That terminology is 10 marks that general English practice won't cover.

Eligibility Criteria
ProgrammeQualifying degree
MBA A bachelor's degree of minimum three years' duration: B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., BBA, BBM, BCA, BE, B.Tech., B.Pharmacy, or any three or four year degree except Oriental Languages
MCA BCA, B.Sc., B.Com. or B.A. with Mathematics at the 10+2 level or at graduation level
  • Marks: at least 50% in the degree, or 45% for SC, ST and BC.
  • Age: at least 19 on the notification date. No upper limit.
  • Final-year students who've finished the course and are awaiting results can apply.
  • Distance or ODL degrees must be recognised by the Joint Committee of UGC, AICTE and DEC or DEB under the UGC Regulations of 2013 and 2020.
  • Indian nationals must meet Telangana's local status rules (Government of Telangana orders read with the AP Educational Institutions (Regulations and Admission) Order 1974), shown by a study or residence certificate.

The convener can reject an application at any stage for incomplete or false information or unmet eligibility, without correspondence. An SC or ST rank won without a qualifying mark is cancelled if the category claim later fails.

Selection Process
  1. Pay the fee, then fill the online application.
  2. Sit the test in your allotted session.
  3. Preliminary key and objection window.
  4. Final key and results, with a state-wide rank on normalised marks.
  5. Counselling and college allotment.

Qualifying alone doesn't get you a seat. You must attend counselling, apply against the admission notification for part-time, evening or distance programmes where relevant, and meet that authority's eligibility. Allotment is on rank and other conditions laid down.

Objections

₹500 per objection, refunded if the objection is upheld. In 2026 the preliminary key came out on 29 May, objections closed on 5 June, and results followed on 19 June.

Ties

  1. Marks in Section A, Analytical Ability
  2. Then marks in Section B, Mathematical Ability
  3. Then age, with priority to the older candidate

The rank is valid for that academic year only. Impersonation can mean three to seven years' imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000 to ₹20,000. Disputes go to the High Court of Telangana.

Admit Card

Download the hall ticket from icet.tgche.ac.in with your Registration Number. In 2026 it opened on 4 May, nine days before the exam. It shows your session.

Keep it: you need it again at admission. Lost your Registration Number? Use Know Your Registration Number on the site.

Result

The final key and results came out on 19 June 2026, after the preliminary key (29 May) and objections (30 May to 5 June). Download your rank card from icet.tgche.ac.in under Download Rank Card.

Ranks are state-wide, on normalised marks. Qualifying is 25% (50 of 200), with no minimum for SC and ST. The rank is valid for one academic year, and you still need counselling to get a seat.

Cut Off

The only published cut-off is the qualifying mark: 25% of 200 (50 marks), and none for SC and ST. That's a floor, not a competitive bar.

The real bar is the closing rank for each college and programme in counselling, which changes every year. Closing ranks come out through counselling, which follows the June results, not on the ICET site.

Preparation Tips
  • Plan from the syllabus. It counts the questions per sub-topic: Data Sufficiency 20, Series 25, Coding and Decoding 10, Arithmetical Ability 35, Computer Terminology 5.
  • Prioritise Sections A and B. They're 150 of 200 marks at school level. Section A is also the first tie-breaker.
  • Learn the four Data Sufficiency options by heart, so you don't reread them twenty times.
  • Don't skip computer and business terminology. It's 10 marks and a finite list.
  • Practise at 45 seconds a question, in full 150-minute mocks. Answer everything; there's no published penalty.
  • Use the official mock and previous papers on icet.tgche.ac.in. The notification itself tells you to practise the mock.
  • Apply in the first window, before the late fees kick in.
  • Check your preliminary key carefully. A valid objection costs nothing.
Sample Papers

Previous question papers and a mock test on the real interface are free on icet.tgche.ac.in, under the Information menu. Take the mock before the mid-May exam.

The syllabus, Instructions to Candidate and normalisation document are there too.
