Programming language COBOL works best if used for
Answer: C
Correct answer: commercial applications
COBOL was designed for business data processing: file handling, report generation and decimal arithmetic suited to money. Its verbosity is the price of the readability that made it acceptable in commerce.

To obtain better memory utilization, dynamic loading is used. With dynamic loading, a routine is not loaded until it is called. For implementing dynamic loading,
Answer: D
Correct answer: user programs can implement dynamic loading without any special support from the operating system or hardware
Dynamic loading is a matter of how the program is written: the routine is loaded from disk by a library call when it is first needed. The operating system may supply libraries to make it convenient, but nothing in the hardware or the kernel is required.

If relocation is static and is done at assembly or load time, compaction _________
Answer: A
Correct answer: cannot be done
Compaction moves a process to a different physical address, so its addresses must be recomputed. If relocation was fixed at assembly or load time the addresses are already bound and cannot be changed, so the process cannot be moved.

A process can map any of its pages into the address space of another
Answer: A
Correct answer: Process
A page may be mapped into the address space of another process, which is how two processes come to share physical memory while each keeps its own address space.

With paging there is no ________ fragmentation.
Answer: B
Correct answer: external
Paging assigns any free frame to any page, so free memory never needs to be contiguous and external fragmentation cannot arise. Internal fragmentation remains, in the last page of each process.

Loop statement which is repeated to some given number of times is classified as
Answer: B
Correct answer: FOR loop
A FOR loop repeats a fixed number of times, controlled by a counter running between stated limits. WHILE and REPEAT loops repeat until a condition changes, which may be any number of times.

Connectivity is similar to
Answer: A
Correct answer: Power cord
Connectivity is what joins a device to the resources it needs, in the way a power cord joins it to the supply - the point of the comparison is that both are links rather than things in themselves. The internet is one thing you may connect to, and a floppy disk and data are not connections at all.

Another solution to the problem of external fragmentation problem is to :
Answer: A
Correct answer: permit the logical address space of a process to be noncontiguous
If a process need not occupy one unbroken run of memory, it can be fitted into whatever holes exist, and external fragmentation ceases to matter. That is the idea behind paging and segmentation.
