Which statement about adolescents is accurate ?
Answer: A
The accurate statement is that adolescence is a social construct.
Development texts describe adolescence as a concept that emerged with industrialisation, when compulsory schooling, child labour laws and longer training created a distinct period between childhood and adulthood. The biological changes of puberty are universal, but the life stage called adolescence is defined by society.
So the idea has not existed throughout human history. Today it is recognised in most societies, not few, as schooling has spread. And adolescence is not the beginning of puberty: puberty is the biological process that begins it.
