What is the objective of 'DigiLocker' service ?

DigiLocker aims to Provide cloud storage for personal documents.
DigiLocker, under the Digital India programme, gives citizens a cloud account where issuing agencies can deposit authentic digital copies of documents such as Aadhaar, driving licences, vehicle registration and mark sheets, which are legally equivalent to the originals.
It is not a banking, shopping or video-conferencing service.
Documents fetched from issuers into DigiLocker can be shown in place of physical copies, for example a driving licence during a traffic check.
