Which process terminates an ordinary single cell storm?
Answer: B
Cold outflow spreading at the surface undercuts the inflow, so the updraught is starved of warm moist air and the cell collapses within about half an hour. This self destruction is why unorganised convection is so transient. Shear that displaces the downdraught from the updraught is what allows a storm to persist, which is the basis of the whole classification of storm types. The shared properties explain why these belong to one family, and the differences explain why more than one exists.
