Who pioneered the modern nursing system ?

Florence Nightingale pioneered modern nursing.
Her sanitary reforms at Scutari during the Crimean War cut the death rate sharply, and she founded the first secular nursing school at St Thomas's Hospital in 1860. She was also a pioneer of medical statistics, inventing the polar-area diagram to argue her case.
