Which place in Tamil Nadu is famous for the monumental architecture of the Pallavas?

It is Mahabalipuram.
The Pallavas carved the rathas, the mandapas and the Descent of the Ganges relief there in the seventh century, and built the Shore Temple about 700. The group was inscribed by UNESCO in 1984.
