To avail of disability benefits, disability certificate showing ............. is needed.
Answer: D
A disability certificate showing 40% disability is needed.
Under Indian disability law, a person with at least 40 per cent of a specified disability is a 'person with benchmark disability' under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, as under the 1995 Act before it. That threshold makes a person eligible for reservations and most government benefits.
30 per cent is below the threshold, while 70 and 80 per cent are higher levels used only for certain extra benefits, such as some allowances for severe disability. They are not the general requirement.
