Which country has recently rejoined the Commonwealth as its 54th Member country ?
Answer: A
The country is the Maldives.
The Maldives left the Commonwealth in 2016 amid criticism of its record on democracy and human rights. After a change of government it applied to return and was readmitted on 1 February 2020, becoming the 54th member.
Bhutan and Afghanistan are not Commonwealth members, and Nepal has never been a member.
The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of countries, most of them former British territories, headed symbolically by the British monarch; members must accept the values set out in its charter.
