When were bar code scanners invented?
Answer: C
They were invented in the 1970s.
The bar code itself was patented in 1952, but no scanner could read it cheaply until the laser arrived. The first commercial scan was made at a supermarket in Troy, Ohio, in June 1974 - a packet of chewing gum.
