What will be the output of the program?
public class Snippet04
{
public static void main(String... args)
{
String word = "abcdef";
String part = word.substring(2, 4);
System.out.println(part);
}
}
Answer: D
substring takes the start index inclusive and the end index exclusive, so characters at positions 2 and 3 are returned and position 4 is not. That gives cd, two characters, which is always end minus start. Expecting cde is the usual off-by-one.
