Isha of class IV asked her teacher, "Why cow does not lay eggs?" What is your most appropriate response if you are Isha's teacher?
Answer: B
The most appropriate response is to ask her to relate laying eggs or giving birth to whether the animal's ears can be seen.
A pattern taught in EVS is that animals with visible ears on the outside, such as cows, dogs and cats, give birth to young ones, while animals whose ears cannot be seen, such as birds, snakes and lizards, lay eggs. Guiding Isha to notice this herself builds observation and classification skills.
Saying 'cows are mammals' gives her a term she cannot yet use. Sending her to find out alone gives no support, and passing the question to others does not guide her own thinking.
