Change in the base sequence within a gene is called
Answer: A
A change in the base sequence within a gene is called a Mutation.
A gene is a stretch of DNA whose sequence of bases (A, T, G, C) codes for a product. A mutation is a heritable change in that sequence, such as a substitution, insertion or deletion of bases, and it can alter the protein the gene makes. Mutations are the ultimate source of genetic variation and are induced deliberately in mutation breeding.
Cloning produces identical copies, fusion joins cells or genes together, and breeding is the improvement of plants or animals by selection and crossing. None of them is a change in the base sequence itself.
