Plasmodesmata in plants are functionally comparable to gap junctions in animals.
Answer: B
Both create direct cytoplasmic continuity between neighbouring cells, allowing small molecules to pass without crossing a membrane. Their structures differ entirely, since plasmodesmata must traverse a cell wall as well.
