Discussion
Consider the following statements about quarry operations.
1. Overburden is stripped and stored before extraction begins.
2. Pre-homogenisation reduces variation in the chemistry of the feed.
3. Blasted stone is fine enough to be fed straight to the raw mill.
Answer: C
The first two are correct. The third is wrong, since blasted stone contains pieces far too large for any mill and must pass through a primary crusher first, which is why the crusher is generally sited at or near the quarry.
