What was Venkatashami's attitude towards the girl ?

He loved her passionately.
He ran away with her, and in his delirium 'his talk was all about his meeting with the girl'. Whenever he was conscious he kept asking them to call her. Those are the marks of deep attachment.
He did not desert her: she was with him when he became ill and was taken home by her father. Indifference and not caring for her are contradicted by his repeated asking for her.
