Which one of the following is a waste recycling method of solid waste management ?
Answer: B
Composting is a method of recycling solid waste, option B. In composting the organic part of the waste is broken down by microbes into humus-like compost, which goes back to the soil, so the material is recycled.
Pelletisation (option A) is a processing step in which waste is made into pellets for fuel and is not itself recycling. Incineration (option C) burns the waste, with some energy recovery but no recycling of material. Sanitary landfill (option D) is a method of disposal. Only composting returns the waste to use as a material.
