Read each sentence to find out whether there is an error in any underlined part.
Whom do you think won the award ?
Answer: A
The error is in part (A) Whom.
The pronoun is the subject of the verb won: (he/she) won the award. A subject takes the form who, so the sentence should read Who do you think won the award?
'Do you think' is only an inserted clause and does not make the pronoun an object. A quick test is to answer the question: 'I think he won', not 'him', so who is right.
