Which State Government in India granted the status of 'Rajyamata-Gomata' to Desi Cows in its State ?
Answer: A
The state is Maharashtra.
In September 2024 the Maharashtra government declared indigenous (desi) cows 'Rajyamata-Gomata', citing their place in Indian tradition, and announced a subsidy for their upkeep in cow shelters.
Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Assam have their own cattle protection laws, but this title was given by Maharashtra.
The decision was taken by the state cabinet ahead of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
