Which temperature range presents the greatest airframe icing risk?
Answer: B
Supercooled liquid water is most abundant in the warmer part of the subfreezing range, and below about minus fifteen the Bergeron process has usually converted most of it to ice. Below minus forty no liquid remains at all. Ice crystals bounce off an airframe rather than adhering, so glaciated cloud presents little icing risk despite its appearance. A limit that survives making every external component ideal is an intrinsic one, and worth knowing for that reason.
