ASCII codes has ____________ bits
Answer: A
Correct answer: 8
ASCII proper uses seven bits, giving 128 codes, but each is stored in a byte, and the extended sets that use the eighth bit are what most systems actually implement. Of the values offered, 8 is therefore the one intended; 16 bits belongs to Unicode's UTF-16.

Answer: D
Correct answer: FORTRAN
FORTRAN - Formula Translation - was written for numerical and scientific computation, and its array handling and floating-point support are still used in high-performance scientific code. SQL is a query language and is not for calculation at all.

For selection of source language the factor which should be considered is
Answer: C
Correct answer: Both 1 and 2
Both matter, and for the same practical reason: a language is no use if no compiler for it exists on the target machine, and no use either if the program cannot exchange data with the other software it must work alongside.

Answer: D
Correct answer: All of the above
All three are true of machine language: the earliest programs were written in it directly, it is the only thing a processor executes, and because it is defined by a particular instruction set it differs from one machine to another.

_________________is not used as main memory system.
Answer: A
Correct answer: Magnetic tape
Main memory must be randomly accessible, and tape is a sequential medium: reaching a given record means winding through everything before it. Magnetic core and semiconductor memory were both used as main memory, in the second and third generations respectively.

Answer: D
Correct answer: Registers
Registers are the small, very fast storage locations inside the processor that hold the operands and results the ALU is working on. Disks are external and far slower, and semiconductor memory is main memory rather than part of the ALU.
