The following pie chart shows the percentage of 3600 students registered in different courses in a university.

The number of students registered in medicine course is what percentage of those registered in science course? (correct to 2 decimal places)
DSSSB PGT - 2023,
Answer: C
Medicine is 104.76% of science. From the chart, medicine is 22% of the 3600 students and science is 21%. As a share of science:
\[ \frac{22}{21} \times 100 = 104.76\% \]The 3600 cancels out. 56.89% and 73.25% are wrong ratios of other pairs, and 10.76% is the figure with the leading 1 missing.
The question gives the 3600 students, but the ratio of the two groups does not depend on it: 22% of 3600 is 792 and 21% of 3600 is 756, and 792 / 756 = 1.0476, which is 104.76%. The answer is above 100% because the medicine group is larger than the science group.
