Which is the correct sequence of primary and secondary wound healing?
RSMSSB - 2025, Rajasthan Nursing Tutor - 2025, RSMSSB Lab Technician - 2025,
Answer: C
The correct sequence is Inflammation → Proliferation → Maturation.
After haemostasis, wound healing passes through an inflammatory phase that clears debris and bacteria, a proliferative phase in which granulation tissue, new vessels and epithelium fill the wound, and a maturation (remodelling) phase in which collagen is reorganised and the scar strengthens over months.
The order is the same for primary and secondary intention; secondary healing simply takes longer. The other options place proliferation or maturation before inflammation, or reverse the last two.
