Which type of forests are not found in Madhya Pradesh ?
MPPSC State Service - 2023, MPPSC Forest Service - 2023,
Answer: D
The forests not found in Madhya Pradesh are Alpine forests.
Alpine vegetation grows at high altitudes, roughly above 3,000 m, in the Himalaya, where low temperatures and snow allow only conifers, shrubs and meadows. The highest point of Madhya Pradesh, Dhupgarh in the Satpura range, is only about 1,350 m high, so no alpine zone exists in the state.
The other types do occur: tropical wet (moist) deciduous forests of sal in the east and south-east, sub-humid forests on the hills, and thorny forests in the drier north-west of the state.
