TS SET Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility, Important Dates

1397 topics across 120 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.

The Telangana State Eligibility Test, now called TG SET, decides eligibility for Assistant Professor and Lecturer posts in Telangana's universities and colleges. Osmania University conducts it for the state government, from its TG SET office at the PGRR Centre for Distance Education in Hyderabad.

It's a computer-based test in a general paper and 29 subjects, held at nine centres across the state's old districts. A pass counts only in Telangana. Candidates from other states can sit it but are treated as Unreserved, whatever their category at home.

TG SET 2026 was held from 28 to 30 September 2026; the provisional answer keys are out for objections.

Selection Process

Roughly the UGC-NET method, with Telangana's reservation rules:

  1. The qualifying pool is 6 per cent of those who sat both papers.
  2. It's split by category under the state's policy (below).
  3. To be counted you need 40 per cent aggregate across both papers (Unreserved) or 35 per cent (SC, ST, BC, PwD and Transgender).
  4. Each category's slots are shared across subjects in proportion to the candidates who reached the minimum; where a subject's share runs out is its cut-off.
CategoryShare of slots
General (Unreserved)36%
BC-A / BC-B / BC-C / BC-D / BC-E7% / 10% / 1% / 7% / 4%
EWS10%
SC Group I / II / III1% / 9% / 5%
ST10%

Within every subject and category, 33.3 per cent of slots go to women (unused slots pass to men of the same category), and there's a 5 per cent horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.
