Which one of the following statements is correct for a superheated vapour?
GATE ME - 2018,
Answer: A
For a superheated vapour, its pressure is less than the saturation pressure at the given temperature.
A vapour is superheated when it is hotter than the boiling point at its pressure or, equivalently, at a lower pressure than the saturation pressure for its temperature. Either way it lies to the right of the saturated vapour line.
The other statements are reversed. Its temperature is higher, not lower, than the saturation temperature at the given pressure. Its specific volume is larger than that of saturated vapour at the same temperature, and its enthalpy is higher than that of saturated vapour at the same pressure, because heat has been added beyond saturation.
