The post is now advertised as Assistant Section Officer (BPSC ASO). The ASO Advertisement 37/2025 has the same Level 7 pay, the same two-stage exam and the same syllabus, and it carries forward a deaf-candidate vacancy left unfilled in the 2022 Assistant cycle. Exam Pattern
In 2022 the Preliminary was a single open-book General Knowledge paper of 150 questions (general studies, general science and maths, mental ability) in 2 hours 15 minutes. Candidates could carry three school textbooks. The Mains had a qualifying General Hindi paper and a 150-question General Knowledge paper that decided the merit list. There was no interview.
Eligibility Criteria
For the 2022 cycle: a bachelor's degree, and age 21 to 37 on 1 August 2022 for unreserved men, with the usual Bihar relaxations (40 for women and BC/EBC, 42 for SC/ST).
Salary
Pay Level 7, ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400.
