CCRAS MTS Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility

152 topics across 5 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.

CCRAS is the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH with 30 institutes across the country and its headquarters in Janakpuri, New Delhi. Its Multi Tasking Staff posts are Group C, Level 1, and the Council recruits them itself, not through the Staff Selection Commission.

"MTS" at CCRAS is ten different posts. Advertisement No. 04/2025 notified 179 MTS vacancies: nine named disciplines plus a combined category, with different qualifications.

DisciplinePosts
MTS Ward Boy33
MTS Ward Aya31
MTS Panchakarma Attendant26
MTS Dresser6
MTS Pharmacy Attendant5
MTS Cook3
MTS Field Attendant1
MTS Animal Attendant1
MTS Machine Room Attendant1
Subtotal, the nine named disciplines107
MTS Combined72
Total179

The named disciplines need an ITI certificate in that discipline, an equivalent vocational certificate, or matriculation plus one year of experience in it. The combined category needs matriculation and nothing else, so it'll draw the biggest field for its 72 posts.

Selection is one 100-mark computer based test with no interview and no skill test, and MTS is the only post in the advertisement with no negative marking. Where you're posted depends partly on the residential address you give on the application.

The three parts

PartContentMarks
1As per the Staff Selection Commission Multi Tasking Staff grade examination syllabus70
2General Awareness, Aptitude and Test of Reasoning20
3Working knowledge of Information Technology and Computing10
Total100

CCRAS doesn't write its own syllabus for Part 1. It adopts the SSC MTS syllabus for 70 marks, then adds 20 on awareness and reasoning and 10 on computing.

Ties

  1. The elder candidate is placed higher.
  2. Higher marks in Part 1, the 70-mark part.
  3. Higher marks in Part 2.
  4. Whoever acquired the essential qualification earlier.
  5. Higher aggregate in that qualification, with CGPA converted to a percentage.
Syllabus

CCRAS publishes weightage, not a topic list, and for 70 marks it points to the SSC MTS syllabus on ssc.gov.in.

Part 1, 70 marks: the SSC MTS syllabus

  • Numerical and Mathematical Ability: integers and whole numbers, LCM and HCF, decimals and fractions, percentage, ratio and proportion, work and time, averages, simple interest, profit and loss, discount, area and perimeter, distance and time, lines and angles, simple graphs and data.
  • Reasoning: alphabet and number series, coding and decoding, analogy, odd one out, direction sense, blood relations, ranking, non-verbal reasoning with diagrams and mirror images.
  • General Awareness: environment, current events, India and its neighbours, sports, history, culture, geography, economics, polity and the Constitution, and scientific research.
  • English: vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms and antonyms, correct usage, and a short comprehension passage.

Only the subject matter carries over. SSC's structure and marking don't, and SSC revises its syllabus from time to time, so use the current one.

Part 2, 20 marks

General awareness (current affairs, polity, geography, history, economy, general science), aptitude and reasoning, at the same level as Part 1. Know what CCRAS and the Ministry of AYUSH are, and the outline of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.

Part 3, 10 marks: computing

  • Parts of a computer, input and output devices, hardware and software, memory and storage
  • Operating system basics: files and folders, desktop, common shortcuts
  • MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint at a basic level
  • Internet and email: browsers, search, attachments, common terms
  • Security basics: passwords, viruses and safe use

In any dispute over the advertisement's wording, the English version prevails.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification

The nine named disciplines (107 posts)MTS Combined (72 posts)

Route 2An equivalent ITI or vocational training certificate from a government-recognised or reputed institution in that discipline
Route 3Matriculation or equivalent plus one year of experience in that discipline from a government-recognised or reputed institution

Route 3 gets overlooked. A ward boy with a year in a recognised hospital, or a cook with a year in a recognised establishment, qualifies without an ITI certificate.

Age

Not over 27 years on the closing date, for every MTS discipline. Age, qualification and experience are fixed on that date and don't move if the closing date is extended.

  • A reserved-category candidate applying against an unreserved post gets no age relaxation. PwBD candidates keep theirs either way.
  • Government employees need a certificate of at least three years of continuous service immediately before the closing date.

Reservation

Reservation applies to the 179 MTS posts as one pool, not discipline by discipline:

CategoryPosts
SC20
ST12
OBC48
EWS16
UR83, including 2 ST and 10 OBC backlog vacancies

Because the advertisement carries earlier years' vacancies, CCRAS notes that "in case of some posts, the 50% stipulation for reserved vacancies has been exceeded".

Ex-Servicemen: 29 of the 33 Group C ESM posts are MTS, 17 of them in the combined category. Field Attendant 1, Panchakarma Attendant 2, Pharmacy Attendant 1, Dresser 2, Cook 1, Ward Boy 3, Animal Attendant 1.

PwBD: 10 of the 23 Group C PwBD posts are MTS.

DisciplinePostsDisabilities the post is reserved for

MTS Dresser1Deaf and hard of hearing

Documents

  • Caste and category certificates in the Government of India format, in original at verification. An OBC certificate must be dated within three years before the closing date.
  • Disability certificate in the central format; discharge certificate for Ex-Servicemen.
  • Serving employees apply online and upload a No Objection Certificate from the head of their institution.
Selection Process
  1. Online application in three steps, with the fee.
  2. Computer based test, 100 marks, 90 minutes, no negative marking.
  3. Merit list by rank within your own category and discipline.
  4. Document verification with originals.
  5. Appointment and posting.

Clearing the qualifying minimum (30%, or 25% for SC, ST and PwBD) only makes you eligible. In the advertisement's words, "any candidate by scoring more than the minimum required marks will not be entitled for consideration appointment". Selection is by rank against the vacancies in your category and discipline.

Where you get posted

CCRAS decides the place of appointment from:

  • the city or state of the residential address on your application,
  • whether there's a vacancy there, and
  • your final rank.

Failing that, it tries for the nearest available location. Posts carry all-India transfer liability across the institutes and headquarters.

How to Apply

Apply online only through the link on ccras.nic.in, and fill the form in English. Nothing is sent by post.

  2. Fill the profile: details, category, photo, signature, common documents.
  3. Apply for the post: post-specific details and documents, then pay.

Repeat step 3 from the same login for any further post. Never create a second reference number. Once submitted, an application can't be edited or withdrawn except in the modification window (3 to 5 September in the 2025 cycle).

For a named discipline, have the ITI or vocational certificate or the experience certificate ready. Everything, including the admit card notice, goes to your registered email, so keep it active and check spam.

Participating Institutes

CCRAS, an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH, runs this recruitment itself. Headquarters: 61-65 Institutional Area, opposite D Block, Janakpuri, New Delhi 110058, with 30 institutes across the country.

There are two recruitment pages, and you need to watch both:

A headquarters advertisement is national: its posts exist "in all peripheral institutes under this council and the HQ office".

Each cadre has its own notified rules. For what a future cycle may accept, read the Recruitment Rules rather than an old advertisement.

Exam Centres

The test runs in 40 cities with no domicile restriction.

Important Dates

CCRAS has no annual calendar for this recruitment. It advertises when vacancies build up, and 04/2025 included earlier years' vacancies.

EventDate and time
Advertisement published11 July 2025
Online application and fee payment opens1000 hours, 1 August 2025

Modification window opens1000 hours, 3 September 2025
Modification window closes1800 hours, 5 September 2025
Computer based testNot announced in the advertisement

The window closes at 1800 hours, not midnight. Eligibility is fixed on 31 August 2025 even if the window is extended, so someone turning 28 in September 2025 was still in.

As at 12 September 2026, no exam date, admit card or result for 04/2025 had appeared. Over the same period the Council's results page carried walk-in interview results for contractual posts (29 May, 18 August, 25 September and 21 November 2025; 9 February, 30 March, 1 April and 10 August 2026). Walk-ins move every few weeks; regular recruitment moves in years.

Admit Card

Download the admit card from the application portal on ccras.nic.in with your reference number and password. It's not sent by post; notice that it's ready goes to your registered email, so check spam as well. No date had been announced for Advertisement 04/2025 as at 12 September 2026.

Result

Results go up as notices on the Council's Results page (headquarters) and Results Institutes. For MTS it's a single merit list, with no second stage. No result for Advertisement 04/2025 had appeared as at 12 September 2026.

The CCRAS results page does list the 31 August 2024 departmental exam for promoting MTS to Lower Division Clerk, and contractual walk-in results under Advertisements 07/2025 and 01/2026.

Cut Off

CCRAS publishes no cut-off marks, scores or answer key for this recruitment, only the qualifying minimum in the advertisement: 30 per cent for UR, OBC, EWS and Ex-Servicemen, and 25 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD. If the Council ever releases a merit list for 04/2025, it will appear on its Results page.

Preparation Tips
  1. Pick the right MTS. If you hold an ITI certificate or a documented year of experience in a named discipline, apply there; the field is smaller than in the combined category.
  2. Work from the SSC MTS syllabus and papers for Part 1, since CCRAS adopts it for 70 marks. Take the content, not the structure: practise on a single 90-minute clock with no penalty.
  3. Don't skip the 10 computing marks. The ground is small: computer parts, files, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, email and basic security. A class 9 or 10 computer applications textbook covers it.
  4. Answer every question. With no negative marking a blank and a wrong answer both score zero. If you're used to SSC's quarter-mark penalty, break the skipping habit.
  5. Train for speed. 100 questions in 90 minutes at matriculation level; the cut-off will sit well above the 30 per cent floor.
  6. Add AYUSH to your general awareness: what CCRAS and the Ministry do.
  7. Get documents ready early: an OBC certificate dated within three years, caste and EWS certificates in the central format, and an NOC if you're in government service.
  8. Keep your email working. Nothing comes by post, and this cycle has gone over a year without an exam date.
Sample Papers

CCRAS hasn't released any sample papers, previous papers or answer keys for its MTS recruitment.

The closest official material is the SSC MTS papers, since CCRAS uses the SSC MTS syllabus for 70 of its 100 marks. SSC holds MTS every year and publishes notices and keys on ssc.gov.in. The rules for the CCRAS paper itself are all in Advertisement No. 04/2025.
