DSSSB PGT Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility
97 topics across 3 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
Post Graduate Teachers teach Classes 11 and 12. DSSSB recruits them for the Directorate of Education (DoE), which advertises separate male and female posts for its single-sex schools, and for NDMC. Each subject has its own post code.
Three PGT rounds are in the pipeline:
- 07/2023, Combined Examination 2023: 297 posts in 13 subjects (804/23 to 816/23). Results have been coming out through 2026; Political Science marks were released on 8 October 2026.
- 10/2024, Combined Examination 2024: 432 DoE posts in 11 subjects (824/24 to 834/24). CBTs ran in 2025 and most results were out by September 2026.
- 01/2025: 131 posts in smaller subjects (English, Sanskrit, Engineering Graphics, Horticulture, Agriculture), post codes 03/25 to 10/25.
Computer Science is recruited separately; see the DSSSB PGT Computer Science page.

Exam Pattern
A single 3-hour CBT of 300 questions and 300 marks:
| Section | Content | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| I | Mental Ability and Reasoning, General Awareness, English, Hindi, Numerical Aptitude and Data Interpretation (20 each) | 100 |
| II | The postgraduate subject and teaching methodology | 200 |
Negative marking is 0.25 a question. The minimum mark applies to Section II only: 40% for General and EWS, 35% for OBC (Delhi), 30% for SC, ST and PwBD, with 5% off for ex-servicemen down to 30%. Rank comes from the combined score of both sections; a tie goes to the higher Section II mark, then the older candidate.
Syllabus
Advertisement 10/2024 gives the content of both sections and no more. Section I (100 marks) is five 20-mark parts: Mental Ability and Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language and Comprehension, Hindi Language and Comprehension, and Numerical Aptitude and Data Interpretation. Section II (200 marks) is MCQs on the post-graduation subject and on the teaching methodology the post needs.
For Section II the Board posts an indicative syllabus per post code on its Indicative Syllabus page. They are bare topic lists: the Commerce one is about 110 M.Com paper titles, from Business Statistics to Forensic Accounting, with no separate pedagogy part. For the 2024 round:
| Post code | Subject | DoE posts (male + female) | Indicative syllabus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 824/24 | Hindi | 70 + 21 | |
| 825/24 | Mathematics | 21 + 10 | |
| 826/24 | Physics | 3 + 2 | |
| 827/24 | Chemistry | 4 + 3 | |
| 828/24 | Biology | 1 + 12 | not listed |
| 829/24 | Economics | 60 + 22 | |
| 830/24 | Commerce | 32 + 5 | |
| 831/24 | History | 50 + 11 | |
| 832/24 | Geography | 21 + 1 | not listed |
| 833/24 | Political Science | 59 + 19 | |
| 834/24 | Sociology | 5 (male only) |
Biology and Geography had no entry on the pages checked on 18 October 2026. NDMC posts share each code but had no requisition when the advertisement was issued. Questions are in Hindi and English, except the language parts, which are set only in that language.
Eligibility Criteria
- Master's degree in the subject with at least 50% (DoE rules)
- B.Ed., or an integrated B.A.B.Ed./B.Sc.B.Ed., or the three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
