Depot Assistant is a post in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, on pay level SL-1 (₹14,800 to ₹47,100). JKSSB fills it only under the Prime Minister's Package for Kashmiri Migrants and non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits, so ordinary J&K candidates cannot apply.
The latest round is item 103 of Advertisement Notification No. 07 of 2026, dated 8 July 2026: 14 posts in Kashmir division. Applications ran from 10 August to 24 September 2026, after one extension. The exam date has not been announced.
The previous round, Advertisement 03 of 2020, had 300 posts, 30 in each of ten Kashmir districts. Its test result was published on 22 April 2021, and recommendations were still being released in late 2024.

JKSSB Depot Assistant Details
Eligibility Criteria
- Who can apply: only Migrants as defined in SRO 412 of 2009 (status certified by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner) or Kashmiri Pandits as defined in SRO 425 of 2017 (certified by the Deputy Commissioner).
- Qualification: Matriculation or equivalent.
- Domicile: J&K domicile certificate dated on or before the last date.
- Age on 1 January 2026: up to 40 for Open Merit, 43 for SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC, 42 for physically challenged. Born on or before 1 January 2008.

Selection Process
Selection is on the written (OMR) exam marks only, with a quarter mark off for each wrong answer, followed by document verification. In 2021 JKSSB ran the test on computer and published percentile scores.

Pay level SL-1, ₹14,800 to ₹47,100 a month.
How to Apply
The fee was ₹600, or ₹500 for SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD candidates, paid online. The window for Notification 07 of 2026 has closed.
