JKSSB has used the plain title "Inspector" for two posts in recent years. Both are covered here.
- Inspector, Forest Protection Force (FPF): Forest, Ecology and Environment Department, Pay Level 5 (₹29,200 to ₹92,300). 60 posts under Advertisement 04 of 2022: 24 in Kashmir division and 36 in Jammu division. This round is still running.
- Inspector, Finance Department (Sales Taxes): UT cadre, Pay Level 6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400). 18 posts under Advertisement 04 of 2020, finished with a final selection list on 4 June 2024.
The FPF written exam was held on 15 March 2026 and scores came out on 28 April 2026. On 30 July 2026 the Board shortlisted 389 candidates for the physical tests, which were held in September 2026. The selection list is next.

Exam Pattern
The FPF Inspector paper is 120 marks in 120 minutes, objective, with 0.25 off for a wrong answer.

The Finance Inspector selection used written marks scaled to 80 points plus a 20-point viva voce.
Syllabus
- Environment: climate change, mining and renewable energy, sustainable development, EIA, wildlife poaching, land use and forest cover in J&K (FSI), pollution.
- Mathematics: quadratic equations, sequences and series, coordinate geometry, mensuration, profit and loss, interest, linear equations, probability, data handling.
- Science: energy sources, metals and non-metals, life processes, ecosystems, the ozone layer, Mendel, reproduction, classification.
- Geography: forest types of J&K, conservation, national parks and sanctuaries, water resources, rainwater harvesting, roads of J&K.
- Computer: MS Office, internet, KMZ files, geo-tagged photos, field apps used in the Forest Department, e-office.
- English, J&K general knowledge, mental ability, modern Indian history and civics make up the rest.
Eligibility Criteria
Inspector (FPF)
A bachelor's degree, with science at 10+2 level, and these physical standards:

A physical fitness certificate from the CMO is needed. Age limits were counted on 1 January 2022 under the 2022 advertisement.
Inspector (Finance)
Graduation from a recognised university.
Selection Process
- OMR written exam.
- Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test (the walk) for those shortlisted on merit. Both are qualifying.
- Document verification.
- Selection list on written exam merit.

No plain "Inspector" post has been advertised since 2022. Advertisement 13 of 2025 had Inspector Fisheries posts, but that is a different job.
