Naib Tehsildar is a UT cadre post in the J&K Revenue Department, at Pay Level 6E (₹35,900 to ₹1,13,500), with the Financial Commissioner, Revenue, as appointing authority.
JKSSB advertised 75 posts in Advertisement Notification No. 05 of 2025, dated 9 June 2025, with applications from 16 June to 15 July 2025. On 15 July 2025, the last day, the Board deferred the process "till further intimation" after an interim direction of the Central Administrative Tribunal, Jammu. The notice cites O.A. 975/2025, Rajesh Singh and Others v. General Administration Department. As of mid-October 2026 there was no notice resuming it, and no exam has been held.

Paper I: objective, 120 marks, 2 hours

A wrong answer costs 0.25. You need 20% in Paper I (15% for reserved categories) to be called for Paper II.
Paper II: Urdu, descriptive, 50 marks, 1 hour
A reading section (20 marks) and a writing section, held the same day. It is qualifying only: 40% overall for Open Merit and 35% for others, with at least 33% in each section.
Syllabus
Paper I covers national and J&K general knowledge (including the Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, the 73rd and 74th Amendments and the Reorganisation Act, 2019), English grammar, computers with basics of remote sensing and GIS/GPS, and reasoning that includes land mensuration and field book units.
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduation, with knowledge of Urdu.
- J&K domicile certificate dated on or before the last date.
- Age on 1 January 2025: up to 40 for Open Merit and serving employees, 43 for SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC, 42 for physically challenged.

Selection Process
Merit on Paper I, subject to passing the Urdu paper. Under S.O. 36 of 2025 these posts have no interview.

Pay Level 6E, ₹35,900 to ₹1,13,500 a month.
How to Apply
The fee was ₹600, or ₹500 for SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD candidates. Applications stopped when the process was deferred.
