SRMJEEE Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility, Important Dates
152 topics across 5 subjects. Every question carries a written explanation.
SRMJEEE, the SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination, is run by SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly SRM University) for its B.Tech. and M.Tech. (Integrated) programmes. One application covers:
- SRM IST: Kattankulathur (the main campus near Chennai), Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Tiruchirappalli, and the Delhi-NCR campus at Ghaziabad
- SRM University, Sonepat, Haryana
- SRM University, AP, Andhra Pradesh
You take it from home, on a desktop or laptop, remote proctored. It runs in three phases and you can sit one, two or all three, with a separate application and ₹1,400 fee each time.
The paper is 130 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes, one mark each, no negative marking, and includes 20 questions of English and Aptitude.
You don't pick your campus or branch when you apply. The preference on the form is for statistics only; the real choice comes at counselling, on your rank and the seats left.
SRM IST has six faculties (Engineering and Technology, Management, Medicine and Health Sciences, Science and Humanities, Law, Agricultural Sciences), NAAC A++, Category 1 with 12B status from the UGC, and a 12th national rank among universities in NIRF 2024. It reports 52,000 students, more than 950 of them international, 3,200 faculty and over 200 research labs.

Taking it from home
| Requirement | Specification |
|---|---|
| Device | A desktop or laptop with a working webcam. Not a mobile phone. |
| Browser | Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox |
| Internet | Stable, at least 2 Mbps |
| Audio | A microphone if needed for verification, and headphones |
The test is AI monitored, with proctors and super proctors. System and internet instructions are mailed and posted one week before the exam. You don't need to be good with computers; basic mouse and keyboard skills are enough.
There are two slots a day. Slot booking opens tentatively two days before the phase starts, and the hall ticket only downloads once you've booked. A mock test runs before the exam, at your convenience.

Selection Process
- Sit SRMJEEE in one or more phases.
- Check your rank on the Admission Portal with your application number and date of birth.
- Attend online counselling, held separately after each phase. This is where you choose campus, programme and specialisation.
- Pay the fee in time and get a Provisional Allotment Letter (PAL) and receipt. Miss the deadline and the allotment is cancelled.
The admission committee allots on the SRMJEEE rank and the qualifying exam, and posts the allotment on the Online Admission Portal.
SRM warns that Phase 3 seat allotment may change depending on what's left across the campuses. Two rounds of counselling have already run by then.
Direct admission and scholarships go to first-rank students of every central and state board, the top 10,000 IIT JEE rankers, top rankers in each district of Tamil Nadu, and national or international level sportspeople.
JEE Main and SAT scores count only for international B.Tech. admission. The Indian route runs on the SRMJEEE rank.
Salary
SRMJEEE is an admission test, so there's no pay. What your rank decides is which campus and programme you can get, and each has its own annual fee. The same branch can cost differently at different campuses, so check SRM's programme table before counselling.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Application, per phase | ₹1,400 |
| All three phases | ₹4,200 |
| Counselling fee | Payable on allotment, within the deadline |
The application fee isn't refunded. After admission, fees are refunded under AICTE norms.
How to Apply
Apply at applications.srmist.edu.in in five steps: register, verify your email, fill the form, upload a photo and signature, and pay. Have your Class 10 mark statement handy.
- ₹1,400 per phase, non-refundable, by debit or credit card, UPI or net banking. Each phase needs its own application.
- Your registration email can't be changed, ever. Everything until enrolment goes there.
- For a correction, raise a query under Form Correction on the portal. If a payment shows as pending, wait 24 hours, then raise a Technical Query.
- Course and campus preference needs no correction; it isn't used for allotment.
Email: admissions.india@srmist.edu.in. NRI, PIO and OCI candidates use the separate International application.
Participating Institutes
| Institution | Campuses |
|---|---|
| SRM Institute of Science and Technology | Kattankulathur (main campus, Chennai), Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Tiruchirappalli, and the Delhi-NCR campus at Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh |

They vary by campus.
Exam Centres
There's no exam centre. You sit SRMJEEE at home, on your own desktop or laptop, under remote proctoring. The equipment list and slot rules are under the exam pattern.
Try the mock test on the exact machine and connection you'll use. It's your only chance to find out the webcam or internet won't hold. Normal exam-hall rules apply in your own room.
Important Dates
| Phase 1 | Phase 2 | Phase 3 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Application deadline | 16 April 2026 | 4 June 2026 | 30 June 2026 |
| SRMJEEE exam | 24 to 29 April 2026 | 10 to 15 June 2026 | 4 to 5 July 2026 |
SRM calls these dates tentative. Slot booking opens about two days before each phase, system instructions arrive a week before, and results and counselling follow each phase. Check applications.srmist.edu.in for announcements.
Admit Card
There's no fixed admit card date. Slot booking opens tentatively two days before the phase begins; once you've booked a slot (two a day), you can download the hall ticket. No slot, no hall ticket.
It comes through the same login as your application, tied to your registered email.
Result
Results go up on the Admission Portal. Log in with your application number and date of birth to see your rank. SRM doesn't fix a result date in advance, so check the site after your phase.
Each phase has its own result and its own counselling.
Cut Off
SRM publishes no cut-off ranks. Seats are allotted at counselling on your rank against the seats still free, and with separate counselling after each of three phases there's no single closing rank, even within a year.
The only fixed bar is eligibility: 60 per cent in the qualifying subjects. The fee and seat matrix for each programme are on SRM's engineering admission page.
Preparation Tips
- Answer everything. No negative marking, so a blank is the only sure loss. Keep the last few minutes to fill in what's left.
- Prepare English and Aptitude. It's 20 marks and worth exactly as much as 20 marks of Mathematics.
- Revise from SRM's own unit list. It names topics down to specific laws.
- Take an early phase if a particular campus or branch matters. Phase 1 has the most seats left.
- Rehearse the setup on the mock test, on your own machine and connection.
- Book your slot as soon as booking opens.
- Use an email address you'll still check in a year.
- Treat counselling as part of the exam. Compare fees across campuses beforehand and pay on time.
Sample Papers
SRM doesn't release previous SRMJEEE papers. What it does publish is the exam pattern and syllabus, and a mock test before each phase, which is mainly for getting used to the online interface. Both are on applications.srmist.edu.in.
