Field trips are an effective pedagogical strategy in EVS, because they let children observe the environment first hand, ask questions, collect information and connect classroom learning to real places and people.
The reason is false: the value of a field trip lies in observation, exploration and understanding, not in memorising objects, events and places. Promoting rote memorisation is exactly what EVS pedagogy tries to move away from.
