Which term describes the energy needed to reach the level of free convection?
Answer: B
Convective inhibition is the negative area on a sounding between the parcel's starting level and its level of free convection, and it must be overcome before deep convection can begin. Large values can cap convection for hours and then permit explosive development when the cap is finally broken. The available potential energy is the positive area above. A single measurement chosen to respond to the one asymmetry beats several that respond to shared behaviour.
