Arrange the steps by which an air data computer produces true airspeed:
1. Measure total pressure, static pressure and total air temperature
2. Compute Mach number from the pressure ratio
3. Recover static air temperature by removing the ram rise
4. Compute the local speed of sound from static temperature
5. Multiply Mach number by the speed of sound
Select the correct sequence.
Answer: C
Mach number comes from pressures alone, but converting it into knots needs the speed of sound and therefore the static temperature. The ram rise must be removed first because it depends on the Mach number just computed.
