Discussion
Airspeed at a constant indicated 200 knots as altitude increases.
| Altitude (ft) | Density ratio | True airspeed (kt) |
|---|---|---|
| Sea level | 1.00 | 200 |
| 10 000 | 0.74 | 232 |
| 20 000 | 0.53 | 275 |
| 30 000 | 0.37 | 329 |
What operational consequence does the table have?
Answer: B
True airspeed is equivalent airspeed divided by the square root of the density ratio, and that ratio falls steadily with height. It is why a climb schedule changes from constant indicated airspeed to constant Mach at the crossover.
