How many such pairs of letters are there in the word CORPORATE each of which has as many letters in the same sequence between them in the word as in the English alphabet?
Answer: C
Correct answer: Three
The test is that the positional gap equals the alphabetical gap, and "in the same sequence" means the second letter must come later in the alphabet as well as later in the word.
In C-O-R-P-O-R-A-T-E three pairs qualify: P and R (positions 4 and 6, two apart; alphabet 16 and 18, two apart), P and T (4 and 8; 16 and 20), and R and T (6 and 8; 18 and 20). P and O also match by distance but run backwards alphabetically, so the sequence condition excludes them.
