What is the effective aperture of an antenna?
Answer: C
Effective aperture is the received power divided by the power density of the incident wave, so it is an area with the dimensions of square metres whether or not the antenna has any obvious physical opening. A half wave dipole has an effective aperture of about 0.13 square wavelengths despite being a thin wire. For a reflector it is the physical area multiplied by the aperture efficiency, typically fifty to seventy per cent.
