Which typical service life does a starter battery achieve?
Answer: A
Four to six years is typical, with hot climates and heavy cycling shortening it considerably. Careful maintenance genuinely extends it, which makes the last option an optimistic but not absurd figure. Failure is often sudden after a slow decline. Working the distinction through on a single concrete case fixes it more firmly than any rule of thumb. Most errors here come from carrying across a result from a neighbouring case where it does not hold.
