Consider the following pairs of lamp and colour.
Front position lamp - white
Rear fog lamp - red
Direction indicator - amber
Reversing lamp - amber
How many of the pairs given above are correctly matched?
Answer: C
A reversing lamp shows white to the rear, which is the one permitted exception to the prohibition on white rearward light. The other three pairings are correct. Tracing the requirement back to the physical constraint that produces it makes the answer follow. Checking which component actually carries the load settles most questions of this kind at once. A symptom that appears under one condition and not another is what narrows the diagnosis quickly.
