Sudarshan Sen was appointed an Executive Director of the Reserve Bank with effect from 5 July 2016, taking charge of banking regulation.
The department he headed frames the prudential rules for banks - capital adequacy, exposure norms, asset classification and provisioning - and issues the master directions through which they are administered. N. S. Vishwanathan, offered as a distractor, had by then moved up to Deputy Governor.
