Discussion
Consider the following statements about choosing a basis.
1. Choosing a stream whose composition is fully known simplifies the work.
2. The basis may be changed part way through if it is done consistently.
3. Two different bases give two different physical answers.
Answer: D
The first two are correct and are the practical rules. The third is false, since a change of basis is only a change of scale and any ratio in the answer is unaffected. Only the intermediate numbers differ between two bases.
