Which of the following led to the findings of the existence of a connection between the brain and immune system, that led to the emergence of the idea of psychoneuroimmunology?
Answer: A
Conditioning led to the idea of psychoneuroimmunology. Experiments showed that the immune response can be conditioned: animals given a drug that suppresses immunity together with a taste cue later showed suppressed immunity to the taste alone (Ader and Cohen), which showed a link between the brain and the immune system. Serendipity means a chance discovery, biofeedback is the training of control over bodily functions, and the autokinetic effect is the apparent movement of a fixed light in the dark.
